What is the Carnyx?
Carnyx//noun: a bronze war horn used by the ancient Celts. Typically six feet in length, the instrument had a top that was the shape of a wild boar’s head, with a moveable lower jaw. One of the loudest instruments ever, it was played going into battle and created a sound more terrifying than the bagpipes. Legend has it the Carnyx is the reason the Romans did not invade Scotland.

The Drum magazine recently celebrated its 21st Birthday, to mark the occasion we produced a short film, viewable here.
